These buffy coats are a good source of leukocytes for earlier stages of discovery and process development and can also be used in the manufacture of diagnostic products.
- All buffy coats are approximately 60 ML.
- Products are not diluted.
- Donor recallability for specialty buffy coats.
Specialty Buffy Coats
Specialty buffy coat collections include approximately 60 ml of unconcentrated white cells from a whole blood collection providing roughly 1 billion white blood cells. The product includes various infectious disease testing and donor demographics such as age, gender, and ethnicity. Utilizing a scheduled donor to collect your Specialty Buffy Coat provides the ability to recall a donor for a subsequent leukopak product as your clinical needs progress.
Generic Buffy Coats
Generic buffy coats are manufactured from whole blood collected from a general blood donor. Although, an excellent resource for your clinical needs, providing the same volume and concentration of a Specialty Buffy Coat, it does not offer donor selection and therefore the ability to recall for a leukopak product.
Both Generic and Specialty Buffy Coats are shipped on the day of manufacture for next-day delivery. Units are packed and shipped per American Red Cross procedure, which allows for the client to select shipment at 1-10°C.
